Many students look forward to October Half Term break…and parents may have planned an exciting pre-Christmas getaway but at what cost?
If your child is in Key Stage 3, this may indeed provide a much enjoyed pick-me-up for the family in these cooler Autumnal months but should students in their final year of school really be taking time out so close to their Mock Exams (usually happening mid-November to the first week in December). After the summer 2021 exam period, where Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) were used alongside partial exam papers/collections of exam board approved questions, there should perhaps still be some consideration regarding what happens if the UK goes into another Lockdown situation. The same process may be used again – it was successfully deployed in May/June. An analysis of the results from Gov.UK can be found here.
Would it be better to wait until the Summer to take a family vacation if your child is currently in Year 11? Many families think it is, opting to use the October Half Term week to focus on revision in preparation for their child’s mocks.
